  • Angela Ammerman

    Adjunct Faculty, MUSIC EDUCATION and AURAL SKILLS, Dewberry School of Music, CVPA

    Angela Ammerman, referred to by the Washington Post as the first “music teacher prodigy,” earned degrees in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati: College-Conservatory of Music, Boston University, and her PhD from George Mason University.

    Assistant Professor of CHORAL MUSIC EDUCATION/Director of UNDERGRADUATE MUSIC EDUCATION

    Dr. Tina Beveridge is Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education and Director of Undergraduate Music Education at the Dewberry School of Music of George Mason University. Although the majority of her teaching experience has been all ages and levels of choral music, in her K-12 career she has also taught middle and high school band and elementary general music. Her diverse teaching experience includes jazz, pop, and world music pedagogy, as well as other progressive pedagogies such as general music in the secondary school.

    Dr. Charles R. Ciorba, Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Music Education, teaches courses in music education.  Prior to joining the faculty at George Mason University, Dr. Ciorba was Associate Professor and Coordinator of Graduate Music Education at the University of Oklahoma, where he (a) gained extensive experience supervising graduate research and (b) taught courses in the areas of research, psychology, philosophy, sociology, assessment, and quantitative analysis.

    Prof. June Huang is the Director of Strings and Assistant Professor of Violin at the Dewberry School of Music. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in applied violin, chamber music, and string pedagogy.
  • William (David) Porter

    William D. (David) Porter is a retired CMSgt from The United States Air Force Band, Washington D.C. During his 24 year career there, he played tuba with The Concert Band, The Ceremonial Brass and The Symphony Orchestra.

    Dr. Scott Seifried earned the BFA degree in Classical Guitar Performance from Carnegie Mellon University, the Master of Music degree from James Madison University, and the PhD in Education from George Mason University.

    Clarinetist Kristen Grattan Sheridan has dedicated her career to teaching. In 2001 she established the Sheridan Studio of Music in Fairfax, VA and has consistently maintained a roster of 50 students. Her students regularly earn top positions in district, regional, and state ensembles, gain admission to prestigious summer programs, receive scholarships to study music at the collegiate level, and go on to become music educators and professional clarinetists. She is in demand as an adjudicator, guest clinician, recitalist, lecturer, and freelance performer on the East Coast.
