NASM Accredited
The Dewberry School of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). George Mason University first gained NASM accreditation in November 1993 and has continued to be a member in good standing in subsequent years.
According to national arts leaders that served as external reviewers of the George Mason University School of Music Academic Program Review in Spring 2021, the Dewberry School of Music was lauded for its many strengths, including:
- An excellent, high-caliber, dedicated, enthusiastic faculty
- A strong and well-supported relationship with the community and professional music performing groups
- A focused, positive, and enthusiastic student body
Founded in 1924, the National Associations of Schools of Music (NASM) is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges and universities with approximately 637 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials. Institutional Membership is gained only through the peer reviewed process of accreditation.
