Ensemble Director: Prof. Matt Trkula
The George Mason University Guitar Ensemble is a performance group playing music written or arranged for multiple guitars. The music spans the entire course of Western music ranging from Renaissance to contemporary composers. In addition to playing as a full company, students are divided into smaller groups; duos, trios and quartets. The group performs end-of-the-semester concerts at the School of Music in the winter and spring, as well as smaller concerts in the local community.
The goal of this course is for students to enhance their musicality and performance skills; in particular, to become competent and comfortable with the preparation and execution of chamber music. This is achieved by an exploration of guitar ensemble repertoire, rehearsal techniques, and group performances. For more information, contact Professor Matt Trkula.
