Ensemble Director: Prof. Julianna Nickel
The George Mason University Flute Choir performs as a credit for chamber music during one semester of each school year. The choir has performed three times at the Flute Society of Washington Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair, and numerous times at the George Mason University Center for the Arts. Past performances outside of George Mason include Park(ing) Day 2020 in Fairfax City, the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center, and at Nats Stadium for Fox 5 News when the Nats headed to the World Series.
The choir is directed by Prof. Julianna Nickel and includes music education and performance majors, music minors, and sometimes non-music majors. Everyone in the flute choir has the opportunity to perform different parts, including piccolo, alto flute and bass flute. Opportunity is rotated and the ensemble is meant to be low stress, but educational at the same time.
