The Jazz Workshop explores the intersection of improvisation and composition in an atypical jazz ensemble. The Jazz Workshop big band, directed by John Kocur, performs music by Charles Mingus, Horace Silver, Billie Holiday, John Coltrane, Thad Jones, Benny Carter, Mike Tomaro, Alan Baylock, Duke Ellington, Buddy Rich, Burt Bacharach, Count Basie, Neal Hefti and many others.
Placement in the Jazz Workshop is by audition only (auditions are held at the beginning of each semester).
