The MusicStart on-site elementary after school program runs engaging kids’ beginner music classes. We are looking for a Fall '25 after school music teacher at several elementary schools in Arlington, VA.
Many different types of instrumentalists teach for us- being good with kids is equally important to musical skills. Each school site is just 1 hour once per week. A teacher may teach at 1 or more schools. This pays $55-75/class mtg depending on enrollment which is 5-15 kids.
Class time is either 4-5pm or 3:10-4:10 depending on site, arrive 10-15min early. Classes are on a different weekday depending on site. Classes start at the beginning of Oct '25 and go through end of early Dec. The term has 7-8 class meetings.
Program content description:
We developed a portable educational electronic keyboard, called the MusicStart Keyboard. Each child gets one to use in class. Students learn to read music and play familiar tunes through color, letter, and musical notation matching. They prepare for taking any musical instrument, and at the same time they learn step by step problem solving. All materials are provided.
