Trumpet Ensemble

Ensemble Director: Dr. Dennis Edelbrock

The ensemble director, Dr. Dennis Edelbrock, has performed and composed with the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, featured at major events such as presidential inaugurals, the Olympic Games, and the Super Bowl. He also founded and is the executive director of the National Trumpet Competition, which has revolutionized the importance of trumpet ensembles in education and performance.

The Mason Trumpet Ensemble performs regularly at student recital events on campus. Recently, the ensemble was chosen and honored to perform at the dedication ceremony for the newly named Dewberry School of Music.

One of the active goals of the George Mason group is to explore all types of fanfare and chamber literature, including jazz and contemporary as well as classical repertoire. Students typically perform ensemble literature with only one player assigned to each part, cultivating both individual confidence and the comprehensive skills of a well-rounded musician. Since parts are often rotated among performers, many students have the opportunity to assume leading roles within the ensemble’s repertoire.
