Your educational experience is personal, so we take your interests and goals into consideration as well as your co-curricular activities, work, and personal experiences when crafting an individualized course of study for you.
Academic advising helps plan educational goals and work to achieve them throughout a liberal arts education. Advisors are dedicated to creating an atmosphere in which students can discover their potential, set and reach individual goals, explore and plan appropriate academic study, and prepare for success after graduation.
Make the Most of Your Advising Appointment
Be prepared to discuss and explore course options, address academic concerns, and make decisions about the upcoming semester. It’s helpful to review your course options for the next semester and make a list of those that interest you by reviewing your Degree Evaluation in PatriotWeb.
Change Your Major or Declare a Double Major
Current George Mason University students will need to schedule an audition before being accepted to the program. For more information, email Dr. Carrie Ann Delaney or make an appointment to learn more.
Cancellation
If you need to cancel/reschedule an appointment, go through the online system (see your confirmation email for the link). During peak advising periods, appointment times are at a premium. If you're more than 10 minutes late, your meeting will be cancelled.
Entrance Exams (Required)
The School of Music gives entrance exams for all incoming students. Completion of these exams is required in order to register for any music courses. All entrance exams are completed online except for keyboard skills.
